Norton Singer Lays It All on the Line

Timmy Brown takes a break from school to audition for shows, produce album.

When 20-year-old Timmy Brown graduated from Norton High School, he made several sacrifices towards achieving his dream of becoming a famous singer. He is one step closer to that goal after auditioning for “The Voice,” “American Idol” and producing a cover album. Brown attended Rhode Island College for a year and a half before making the difficult decision to put his education on hold. “I know many people have mix feelings about this, but I need to do what my gut tells me,” Brown said. “Don't get me wrong I love school, and I am definitely planning on going back either in the spring or next year at some point. I just have so many opportunities and I have so much motivation to achieve this [dream] and I need to put 110 percent effort into it…

Norton Native Aims to be an Idol

Norton native Timmy Brown recently moved to Florida to follow his dreams of becoming a country music star and is already making a splash at Disney Hollywood Studios where he auditioned for the American Idol Experience. The show allowed him to sing to a live audience and the chance to win a ticket that will allow him to go to the front of any audition line for next season’s American Idol. “I will be going back and also auditioning for ‘Idol’ this summer for next season no matter what,” Brown said. “It is just a good experience and helps me with learning all the staging and helps me with learning how to perform on a big stage.” Brown has performed at many events in and around Norton such as at Norton High School's athletic events, First …

Local Band to be Featured During 'American Idol' Finale

Artie Eaton and The Ghillies are making it big.

The Ghillies, a local band started by Attleboro's own Artie Eaton and includes Michael Chisholm of Norton, will soon get the chance to share its music during a coveted TV time slot tomorrow. The country rock band has made a name for itself by winning first place in a battle of 50 bands sponsored by Cardi's Furniture Superstore and featured by Fox Providence's The Rhode Show.  By winning the contest, The Ghillies earned the opportunity to create a music video that will be aired during the season finale of "American Idol" The video will be seen by all viewers in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts.
