Route 495 Diverted Through Norton After Motorcycle Accident

All lanes are now open.

*UPDATE 5:01 p.m.* Route 495, which was closed after a motorcycle accident occured, has been reopened. Traffic is being diverted around exit 10, where the crash happened, through Route 123 in Norton back to exit 12.  "The highway is open now so I think that traffic is flowing fine on the highway," said Norton Police Lieutenant Todd Jackson. "It's still kind of backed up in town from the residual stuff there, but the highway is good." Norton Assists with Route 495 Rollover

One man was trapped inside the vehicle on the ramp to Route 95 North for over 30 minutes.

The Route 495 South ramp to Route 95 was closed today at around 9 a.m. after  a tractor trailer rolled over.  The driver, a 48-year-old male, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital according to state police. He was reportedly trapped inside the vehicle for over half an hour. Fire and EMS personell from Mansfield, Norton and Foxborough were on the scene.

Norton Man Cited for Leaving Scene of Route 24 Fatal

A 20-year old Norton man is cited for leaving the scene of Sunday's fatal on Route 24 where a Needham pedestrian was struck and killed.

Massachusetts State Police have issued a citation to the man who was allegedly operating the vehicle that struck and killed a pedestrian on Route 24 northbound in Randolph early Sunday morning. Shane Wilson, 20, of Norton was issued a citation with a single charge of leaving the scene after causing personal injury resulting in death, David Traub, spokesman for Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey, said in a press release. 29-year-old Adam T. Trudeau of Needham was said to have been standing in the roadway on the northbound side of Route 24 when he was struck by Wilson's vehicle. Police Respond to Crashes Over the Weekend

One charged and one issued a citation.

Norton Police and Fire Departments responded to two motor vehicle crashes over the weekend. At 11 p.m. Saturday, Sergeant Robert Whitfield of Norton Police Department was monitoring traffic and conducting radar at the intersection of Taunton Avenue and E. Main Street in a marked cruiser when he observed a pick-up truck lose control as it attempted to turn onto Taunton Avenue. The truck traveled over the sidewalk and crashed through a fence in front of the Unitarian Church. The operator, Eric Charron, 27, of Highland Street, Taunton, was placed under arrest by Sgt. Whitfield at the scene. He was not injured in the crash. Charron is charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and negligent operation of a motor…

Three Injured in Three-Car Crash

Passengers transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital.

At approximately 4 p.m. Monday, there were reports of a three-car crash in front of Mansfield Bank at 225 W. Main St., Norton. Three passengers were transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital with injuries.  Two were transported by Norton Fire Department and one from Mansfield Fire Department.  Despite some rumors circulating on Facebook saying otherwise, Medflight was not involved. While the accident did cause a traffic jam, it was cleared up in about 40 minutes. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

State Police: Investigation of Fatal Route 24 Rollover Suggests Victims Not Wearing Seat Belts

A tread failure on a rear tire may have caused the crash, according to State Police.

Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police and the department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section are "investigating whether a tread failure on the right rear tire" may have caused the single car Route 24 rollover late Thursday afternoon, which took the life of a 12-year-old Norton girl and injured two other Norton women, according to David Procopio, spokesperson for the MSP. The crash, which involved a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado Avalanche, occurred at 4:43 p.m. on July 12 on Route 24 northbound, about a quarter-mile south of exit 20 (Route 139) on the Stoughton/Avon line. Collision Sends Four to Hospital

No charges filed at this time.

A head-on collisision between two cars late Saturday night sent two passengers to the hospital. Norton Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of 421 Old Colony Road at 11:57 for a report of a motor vehicle crash. The head-on collision involved two vehicles; one headed west on Old Colony Road and one headed east.  Two injured passengers from one vehicle were transported to Sturdy Hospital by Attleboro Fire and Mansfield Fire. Two injured passengers from the other vehicle were both transported to Rhode Island Hospital by Norton Fire and Attleboro Fire. Bicyclist Struck by Motor Vehicle

At 8:10 p.m. Friday night, Norton Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of 328 E. Main St. for a report of a bicyclist struck by a motor vehicle.  The bicyclist, a 16-year-old male from Easton, was heading toward Easton when he was struck by a vehicle heading west.  The youth suffered head injuries and injuries to his lower extremities. He was transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Rhode Island by the Norton Fire Department. A preliminary investigation revealed that the youth was riding his bicycle in the roadway while wearing dark clothing. The operator of the vehicle, Arlindo Moraes, 42, of Attleboro, immediately stopped after the accident, attended to the victim and called 911. Moraes has not been cited. The incident …

Car Hits Pole, Shuts Down Eddy Street

Driver in single-car crash sustained non-life threatening injuries.

A single-car accident on Eddy Street sent a N. Attleboro resident to the hospital Wednesday night and has shut down the road for the next few hours. At this time it is unknown what caused 46-year-old Kate Hayes to veer off the road and hit a utility pole in the vicinity of 63 Eddy St. She was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital by Norton Fire Department for non-life threatening injuries. Hayes was cited for speeding and marked lanes violation. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. National Grid responded to the scene to repair damage. “They took out a whole pole,” said Sergeant John Eisnor. The driver hit the same pole that a Sysco tractor trailer struck April 2. Fatal Easton Crash Kills Norton Man

Eric Gryzboski, of Norton died after a Foundry Street accident Tuesday night.

A Foundry Street accident resulted in the death of a Norton man Tuesday night, according to Easton Police. Easton Police Chief Allen Krajcik said in a statement that Eric Gryzboski, 36, of Eisenhower Drive, Norton, went off the road while heading westbound at approximately 10:45 p.m. and crashed his 2002 GMC pickup truck into a large tree near the Norton town line. He was extricated from the vehicle by the Easton Fire Department and transported to Caritas Good Samaritan Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, Krajcik said. Massachusetts State Police were the first to arrive on the scene, and subsequently requested backup from Easton EMT's.
