Westwood won the boys' meet while Hopkinton took first place in the girls' meet.
While the boys’ meet went down to the wire, things remained status quo in the girls’ meet. Despite only getting four individual wins, the Westwood Wolverines walked away with the boys’ league title beating Norton by only 3.67 points while the Hopkinton Hillers once again won the girls meet. “This meet is not necessarily about how many first places you get. It’s about depth and we’re very lucky to have a lot of great finishes across the board,” Westwood boys’ head coach Joe Mascia said. “These guys have worked tirelessly since the beginning of the season so they deserve it.” Bobby McLaughlin came up big for the Wolverines, completing one of the more tougher doubling efforts in the mile and the two mile. “He ran two really great races and it…

Norton's Kelly Allen is having a big season in the throwing events for the Tufts University women's track team.
Norton's Kelly Allen is having a big year for the Tufts University women's track team. The junior won the discus (163'6") and was seventh in shot put (42'6") and seventh in the hammer with a throw of 167'8" at the Open New England Championships at MIT last week. As a team, the Jumbos scored 36 points for ninth place, their highest place ever in the meet. Allen will look to build off these impressive performances in next weekend's ECAC Championship at RPI. Anthony O’Leary went 2-4 with a run and a pair of RBIs. Russell Boudreau went 1-3 with a run. Corey Marsden went 2-3 with two RBIs and a run.
Over the past couple of weeks, no one can argue that the Norton Lancers’ games haven’t been interesting. With six out of the past eight games being low scoring affairs, an 8-0 win over the Ashland Clockers was a welcome changed for a team that is desperate for wins. “I thought that a lot of guys that have been struggling came out of it today and that’s good,” Lancers head coach Ted Currle said. The Lancers for all intents and purposes ended the game with a seven run third inning that easily ranks as one of their finest innings of the season. “As far as scoring runs it was our best by far,” Currle said. “Anthony Hallgreen got it going with what looked to be a single and with pure hustle and heart got a double. That got us going, that’s what…
