Operation Blue Lights will be back in effect this weekend
This Memorial Day weekend, "Operation Blue Lights" will be back in effect in southeastern Massachusetts, State Police announced Thursday. According to WPRO News, "State Police will deploy 100 additional troopers across Southeastern Massachusetts over the long Memorial Day holiday weekend. It is an effort to curb accidents and fatalities, and to enforce traffic laws, said Major Anthony Thomas, Commander of Troop D, which patrols all of Southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod and the Islands." Norton appoints Eric Tynan as its newest firefighter.
The Norton Fire Department appointed Eric Tynan as its newest full-time firefighter. “It’s certainly a pleasure to stand before you this evening,” Norton fire chief Paul Schleicher said. Schleicher said Tynan has been working in Norton as a paramedic and EMT, but always wanted work in a different capacity in the department. “His whole life, he knew he wanted to be a firefighter, just like his father, grandfather and uncle,” Schleicher said. “He was an EMT when he graduated high school in 2005 and graduated paramedic school in 2008. Schleicher said Tynan also completed his studies with very high marks. “When he graduated the firefighter academy and the paramedic school, he graduated at the top of his class,” he said. During a confrontation with the FBI and the Mass. State Police, a Florida man was shot and killed and an officer was injured.
One man is dead and an agent is injured after a confrontation between the FBI and Mass. State Police in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing in the Orlando area on Wednesday morning. The FBI on Wednesday morning said an agent, two Massachusetts State Police troopers and other law enforcement personnel were interviewing an individual in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing when he attacked the agent. The FBI identified the person shot and killed as Ibragim Todashev, 27. During the confrontation, Todaschev was shot and killed and the agent sustained non-life threatening injuries. "As this incident is under review, we have no further details at this time," the FBI said.

Northborough police arrested a Norton man in Shrewsbury on charges of open and gross lewdness.
Northborough police arrested a Norton man at a home in Shrewsbury on Tuesday for an incident at Motel 6, where two days earlier the man allegedly exposed himself to a woman and her daughters, who were staying at the motel. Jeffrey H. Flannery, 55, 39 Reseroir St., Norton, was arrested at a Shrewsbury home at which he was staying, on charges of open and gross lewdness. Officer Phillip Martin says he responded to a call from an employee at Motel 6 on May 13, who relayed a disturbance that had occurred earlier in the day. Flannery, according to employees, had been dropped off at the motel on May 12. On May 13, a report had come in around 2 a.m. of a man who was "banging on the door and using foul language."
