Movie Review: The Three Stooges

The last movie I got to see in theaters just a couple weeks ago was, “The Three Stooges." If you are the kind of person that likes to laugh and likes comical movies, I would recommend this movie. Everyone knows "The Three Stooges" very well, since it use to be a popular TV show. But to make the movie better, they put Moe, Larry and Curly in an up to date form and in the present day environment. The movie started out in the beginning of their lives as babies. The stooges lived in an orphanage just waiting for the right family to adopt them. Because they were not good kids and were always getting in trouble, no one did. They lived their lives in the orphanage until they got older when the orphanage got the bad news that they have to shut …

Man Stabbed in Stoughton Wednesday Evening A man in his early 40s was stabbed late Wednesday evening on York St. in Stoughton, according to Lt. Fran Wohlgemuth of the Stoughton Police Department.  The suspect is at-large.  "The victim is not being overly cooperative so that's hampering our efforts," Executive Officer Robert Devine said. Janitorial Bids Sought for Municipal Center

The Town of Norton, acting through its Board of Selectmen, is accepting sealed bids for janitorial services for the Norton Municipal Center, 70 E. Main St. and Norton Police Department, 82 E. Main St. for a two-year period commencing July 1, 2012 and terminating June 30, 2014. Specification and bid forms are available at the Town Manager’s Office in the Norton Municipal Center 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Sealed bids marked with the bidder’s name and designation “Janitorial Services” on the outside of the envelope must be received no later than 11 a.m. June 4 at the Town Manager’s Office. Bids will be opened and read aloud at this time and may be held for a period of 30 days from the date of opening. Bidders must bid on all …

Sixteen Area Programs Receive Norton Cultural Council Grant

Recipients honored Thursday.

On Thursday, 16 grant recipients were honored by the Norton Cultural Council. The Council had about 40 grant applications and distributed approximately $4,700 to area supporters of the arts. The group is funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency that supports the arts, humanities and interpretive sciences. The Massachusetts Cultural Council receives an annual appropriation from the state Legislature and funds from the National Endowment for the Arts, Bank of America and more. “Our goal was to cover as broad a range as possible,” said Norton Cultural Council Chair Naomi Viglas. “We also wanted to keep the money as local as possible.” One such local program is the SMARTS Collaborative Summer Artists program. “Having the …

Best Of Winner: Uncle Ed's Back Porch

Uncle Ed's homemade ice cream is crowned the best in Norton.

The results of this week’s Best Of Readers’ Choice series are in, and boy was it a close one! With 54 out of 112 votes, Uncle Ed’s Back Porch was voted as having the Best Ice Cream in Norton. Runner up McMahon’s Countryside Grille garnered 51 votes while Sundae Shack received 7. “The heck with Bliss, they [McMahon’s] remind me of Bristol Farms,” said Patch reader Brian.   McMahon’s was just a step behind Uncle Ed’s every step of the way until the day before the polls closed. Friday morning McMahon’s was ahead in the poll by a single vote, but by 9 a.m. today when polls closed, their ice cream supplied by The Ice Cream Machine wasn’t enough to beat out Uncle Ed’s homemade hit.
