I saw that Advanced Dental Care of Norton had posted a sign introducing Dr. Amy Fugate, a pediatric dentist, and I made an appointment to bring my 2.5 year old daughter for her first dentist appointment. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the staff. When the dental hygienist came out to greet us, she immediately introduced herself to our daughter, then to us, and walked us back to the examination room, which was decorated with bright colors and images of cartoon characters and animals. The hygienist (whose name I have unfortunately forgotten) used the images to engage our daughter and make her comfortable. Dr. Fugate was also warm, friendly, and reassuring. Before doing anything, they explained what they wanted to do and asked us if we thought our daughter would be OK with it, for example, examining her teeth. They allowed her to choose a toothbrush to hold. After examining her teeth and asking if we had any questions, all of which Dr. Fugate answered, they explained the state of her teeth and encouraged us to floss and brush as we had been doing. I could not have asked for a better first experience for our daughter. She loved meeting Dr. Fugate and the hygienist, was made to feel very comfortable, and was asked before anything was done, even as simple as "Do you want to sit in the special dentist's chair?" We will definitely take her to Advance Dental Care of Norton for all of her dentist's appointments.
