Details:

Personal Best Karate will host a blood drive on Saturday, December 14, 2013 aboard the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Brigham and Women’s Hospital Blood Mobile, which will be located at 36 Commercial Street, Route 140, next to Ocean State Job Lot from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. All blood collected at the drive will benefit patients at Dana-Farber and Brigham and Women’s.

This blood drive is in honor of Angela Anagnos Whitley, an original Personal Best Karate mom during the very first year of the school’s opening. She was mom to her three boys, Christopher, Brendan and Jordan, who all trained at Personal Best.  Life dealt Angela a tough challenge 19 years ago with a diagnosis of breast cancer.

With the determination and support of people like you, she was able to live  those years. Throughout that time, she made it a goal to educate people of the importance of giving that special gift of blood / platelets. She always said, “This is something money cannot buy. Only one's time will keep  us going and save the lives of many.” Angela’s fight ended on March 14,  2013.

People undergoing treatment for cancer—as well as accident victims, transplant recipients, and many other patients—depend on transfusions to control their bleeding. Volunteer donors are the only source of blood products for these patients.

All Angela asked was that, "If you cannot give, please ASK someone who CAN so someone can have the chance to live.”
