Norton Youth Helps Raise Money for Clinkscales Family

Over $200 collected to help Clinkscales recover from house fire.

About a month after a, the Clinkscales family is still recovering. But thanks to a few generous people like 11-year-old Nicholas Pucino, they are about $200 closer to getting back on their feet.

A fifth grader at , Nicholas’ bus drives by the home every day. When he found out about the fire, he thought it would be a good idea to have a fundraiser at the school to help the family out. Principal Lisa Farrell agreed, and brought the idea before the Helping Hands Committee who decided to do a Hat Day. Staff and students donated at least $1 to wear a hat in support of the cause, whether it be a baseball cap or a Cat in the Hat hat.

“Hat Day for a Cause went very well,” said Yelle principal Lisa Farrell. “We raised 202. Nicholas collected and counted all of the money on Friday.”

This isn’t the first time Nicholas has shown compassion for others. A few years ago, he raised over $700 dollars doing a hat day at and almost $2,400 in total for St. Baldrick’s Cancer Foundation. Along with men and women from local fire departments, he shaved his head in support of the Foundation, which funds childhood cancer research.

Nicholas has also joined the Helping Hands Committee at his school in hopes of assisting even more people in need.

“We’re very proud of him,” said Anthony Pucino, Nicholas’ father, who is a Seekonk firefighter.
