The Wheaton College women's basketball team has won the NCAA Division III Spotlight Poll for the month of December as its partnership with the Heller's Angels Special Olympics Team received 5,947 votes.

The Lyons have earned $500 dollars towards their next Special Olympics event with the Heller's Angels for winning the Spotlight Poll. In addition, Wheaton and the Heller's Angels will have their story shared in the NCAA Division III Monthly Newsletter and on the NCAA Division III Special Olympics website.

"When we hosted the Heller's Angels on December 7 for our game against Babson, the athletes and their respective families were so elated to be nominated," said women's basketball head coach Melissa Hodgdon. "I am so pleased our community got the win for the Heller's Angels. Our team is equally as excited about this and has already planned to attend a Heller's Angels practice. We will also be inviting the Heller's Angels to our end of the year banquet."
