The women's lacrosse team suffered a 13-6 loss to No. 13 Tufts University in non-conference action Thursday afternoon at Bello Field.
Senior Hailey Colburn (Concord, N.H./Concord) tallied three points (2-1-3) to pace the Lyons, who suffered their second-straight setback to fall to 9-5 on the season. Classmate Sydney Ferguson (Jamestown, R.I./North Kingstown) recorded a goal and an assist while senior Katie Powers (Ashburnham, Mass./Cushing Academy), along with sophomores Charlotte DeSantis (Darien, Conn./Darien) and Leila Mills (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick), also potted goals.
For the Jumbos (7-3), senior Laza Kozin (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) notched a game-high nine points on six goals and three assists. Junior Kerry Eaton (Norfolk, Mass./King Philip) scored four goals and dished out a pair of helpers while senior Kelly Hyland (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) tallied three points (2-1-3).

Tufts scored the first goal goals of the contest and led 9-2 at halftime behind four goals from Eaton and three from Kozin. Ferguson and DeSantis netted goals for Wheaton, which was outshot18-7 in the opening 30 minutes.
Each team scored four times in the second half, but the Lyons could not cut their deficit to less than seven goals (11-4). Colburn potted both of her goals in the stanza while Kozin picked up the hat trick.

The Jumbos outshot Wheaton 30-24 and forced 29 turnovers, compared to 24 for the visitors. Freshman Katy Ananian (Belmont, Mass./Belmont) fell to 8-3 with the loss as she allowed 13 goals on 22 shots on goal. Junior Tess Shapanka (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) made eight saves to pick up the 'W' for the Jumbos.
Sophomore Hannah Whitley (Bow, N.H./Bow) collected a team-high three ground balls while classmate Devon Soucier (Avon, Conn./Cushing Academy) caused two turnovers. Senior Katie Lotz (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) and senior Maggie Casey (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) led the Jumbos with four GB's apiece.
Wheaton returns to action on Tuesday with its regular season home finale against Wellesley at 4 p.m.
