Varsity Wrestling Earns Record-Breaking Season

Lancers finish with 27 wins.

Finishing the season with a record 27 wins and only three losses, the Lancers went on to repeat as Division 3 Central Sectional champs and then took second place out of 53 teams at the D-3 State championships.

Junior JT Taylor at 145 and senior captain Stephen Hudson at 285 were sectional champions, while there were ten other place winners including junior co-captain Mike Travers 2nd at 182, sophomore Elliott Johnson 3rd at 170, junior co-captain Myles McAlpine 3rd at 152, senior Tim Casagni 3rd at 195 and senior captain Jack Cuneo 3rd at 160, sophomore Alek Donovan 5th at 220 and freshmen Aidan Kahn and Deven Schuko both 5th at 106 and 113 respectively. Coach Coleman was named "D-3 Central Coach of the Year."  The Lancers went on to capture the runner-up trophy at the States on the strength of seven place winners. Travers finished 2nd, McAlpine and Casagni were both 3rd, Taylor took 4th, Johnson 6th, and Cuneo and Hudson were both 7th. At the All-State Tournament, Travers went on to place 7th.  

Along the way Travers recorded the most wins in a season (45) and most pins in a season (35) in school history while Hudson set a new school record for career pins (104). Two Lancers joined the elite "Century Club" of 100+ career wins, Cuneo with 106 (5th place all-time) and Hudson with 132 (2nd place all-time).

In addition, a young Lancer junior varsity team had a winning season (11-7) and had three placewinners in the JV States. Junior JV captain Grant Monast (160) and freshman Connor Merriott (170) were both 2nd while freshman Anthony Cardone (152) finished 3rd.
