Trinity Defeats Wheaton Women's Swimming And Diving

Lyons lose 160-74.

The Wheaton College women's swimming and diving team fell to Trinity College, 160-74, on Saturday afternoon at the Trinity Natatorium. 

Senior Caroline Isaacs (San Jose, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) turned in the top performance for the Lyons on the afternoon winning the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:20.63 ahead of freshman teammate Ceara Bowman (Centerville, Mass./Portsmouth Abbey School) who placed second (11:43.20). 

Isaacs also placed second overall in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:35.79. Bowman came in second overall in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:40.87 and senior Julia Kusiak Carey (Shawmut, Maine/Lawrence) placed fourth in the event (5:43.15).

In the 200-yard backstroke, senior Elle Van Cott (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) ranked second overall in 2:24.06, classmate Dana Auger (Milford, Mass./Milford) was third overall (2:24.45) and freshman Skyler Dean-Lee (Rocky Hill, Conn./Rocky Hill) finished fourth with a time of 2:28.53. 

Auger teamed up with senior Kirstie Parkinson (Singapore, Singapore/Singapore American School), freshman Courtney Leach (Gilford, N.H./Gilford) and sophomore Cara Morris (Irvington, N.Y./Irvington) in the 400-yard medley relay for second place in 4:18.26.

In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Van Cott, Morris and Leach combined with freshman Helen Grant (Suffield, Conn./Loomis Chafee School) for a runner-up finish with a time of 3:48.88. 

Leach and Morris also contributed a second place finish in their respective individual events as Leach swam a time of 26.10-seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and Morris posted a time of 58.25-seconds in the 100-yard freestyle. 

On the diving board, freshman Sydney Gillis (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) took second place in the one-meter dive with 158.62 points and the three-meter dive with 189.15-points. Classmate Amanda Welch (Torrington, Conn./Torrington) was third in the one-meter dive (94.35 points). 

Wheaton returns to action Friday, Jan. 18 as the Lyons host Babson College at the Balfour Natatorium at 7 p.m.
