Spieth Shoots One-in-a-Lifetime Round Monday at Deutsche Bank Championship

Teeing off first Monday led to a great round.

This one was time where being in the first group to tee off turned out to a good thing.

Playing with Phil Mickelson and Harris English, Jordan Spieth teed off at 9:30 a.m, in Monday's final round of the Deutsche Bank Championship at the TPC-Boston in Norton. That allowed him to finish before Monday's thunderstorms delayed play for two hours, so he didn't have to stay around.

Oh yeah, before the rains came, he played the best round of his life, finishing with a final round 62, which left him at 17 under for the tournament and tied for fourth place.

Spieth birdied three of the final four holes and and then had an eagle on the 18th to put himself into contention for the title.

"I've never finished birdie, birdie, birdie, eagle before," said Spieth. "To see the putt track on 18 with four feet to go, I knew it. It's great feeling, tied my lowest I've ever shot in a tournament. It's definitely the best round I've ever played in my life."

The 20-year-old Dallas native left TPC-Boston and went to spend time with his family in Providence.

"My little brother (Steven) is starting up at Brown here (as a freshman)," said Spieth after finishing his round. "We're meeting him at school and we'll probably find something to eat and hang out before we kind of wish him off."

His brother is a 6-6, 210-guard who is going to play basketball for Brown.

"He likes the coach a lot and they've got six freshmen coming in," said Jordan
Speith joined the PGA tour this year after leaving the University of Texas midway through his sophomore year. Spieth won the US Amateur twice in 2009 and 2011, equaling the feat of Tiger Woods, the only other player to accomplish it.

He's already won once on the PGA Tour, taking the John Deere Classic after winning a playoff and is in consideration for the Presidents Cup team.
As the year winds down, Spieth has already done more than he expected to do.

"At the beginning of the year, I would been happy with playing in the Web.com playoffs," he said.
