Norton loses the clinch in today's game against Sturgis West Charter School 3-0.

The New Testament Christian School varsity soccer team took to the field against Sturgis West yesterday afternoon to clinch their spot in the state tournament but came up a bit short.

The Knights lost 3-0 against a tough Hyannis team, who scored all goals in the first half. After regrouping in the second half, the Knights defend their net with some exceptional saves by goalie Jon Pladsen.

New Testament has another chance at the States in a rematch against Sturgis West Monday in an away game.

"Anything written or discussed about this team would be incomplete without a few things: their commitment, their love, and their drive," said coach Chet Jobert. "This team was committed far before I started practices with them. They practiced for 2 months on their own time before the official start date. It has truly paid off. Secondly, their love for each other is without equal. The captains serve the team by getting the equipment and water which is opposite of how things are normally done [normally done by underclassman]. They play for the person next to them. Their drive is what has gotten them where they are. From oldest to youngest, they refuse to quit or give in. It is beyond inspiring."

"We thank the 115 plus fans that came out to show support for the team," added school administrative assistant Lisa Carvalho. "If you were there, you saw an amazing nail biting game. "
