After an injury plagued sophomore season, former standout Sean Ryan is hoping for a big season at .

A junior outfielder, Ryan was limited to just 15 games a year as the Lyons went 32-11, qualifying for the NCAA Division 3 tournament.

Ryan was hitting .367 at the time of his injury. That came on the heels of a NEWMAC Rookie of the Year campaign his freshman year, batting .387.

"Sean's about ready to go. He's a few days away from being no holds barred," said Wheaton College head coach Eric Podbelski. "We're still easing him in, making sure he doesn't suffer a setback and is ready to go when the season starts."

A year ago, Wheaton advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 10th time in 12 season. This year, they are entering the season ranked 16th in the College Baseball Newspaper preseason poll and 18th in the d3baseball.com/National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) poll.

Wheaton opens its season with its annual trip to Winter Haven, Fla. to compete at the Central Florida Invitational, March 9, against Husson University in the season opener.
