Norton High Wrestlers Eighth in Marshfield Tournament

The Norton High wrestling team will open up the Tri-Valley League season Thursday at Hopkinton.

A good team effort resulted in an eighth place (out of 33 teams) finish for the Norton High wrestling team in the Marshfield Holiday Wrestling Tournament.

Despite not having any tournament championsfor the first time in four years, the Lancers placed wrestlers in the top eight in their weight classes.

Ahrayah Saintius and Myles McAlpine were eighth at 120 and 152-pounds. respectively, while JT Taylor, Jack Cuneo and Mike Travers finished sixth at 145, 160, and 182. Stephen Hudson was fourth at 285 as a result of an injury default.  Russell Hansen (132), Brett Pike (138), Elliott Johnson (182), Tim Casagni (195) all won matches but did not place.

North Andover won the team championship ahead of Plymouth South, North Attleboro, Bridgewater-Raynham, Cumberland (R.I.), Pembroke, Hingham, Norton and 25 other teams in this very competitive early season competition.

The Lancers face their first Tri-Valley League opponent Thursday at Hopkinton.

Next Saturday, they travel to Hingham for a quad with Somerset-Berkley and Sharon.
