UPDATED: Norton `10 National Baseball Team Wins Hockomock Title

Norton defeated Attleboro, 11-5, Friday night in Easton to capture the Hockomock Summer Baseball League Title.

The Norton National 10-year-old All-Star team defeated Attleboro, 11-5, Friday night to win the Hockomock Summer Baseball League title in Easton.

Bring on Attleboro.

The Norton 10-year-old all-star baseball team is moving on to the Hockomock Summer Baseball League finals after beating Sharon, 12-2, by the slaughter rule Thursday in Sharon. Attleboro defeated North Attleboro in the other semifinal game. The two teams will now meet in the finals at Easton at 5:30 p.m. Easton is hosting the nine, 10 and 11-year-old championship games.

In the semifinals, Michael Duross and Ethan Meisner-Nelson turned in solid pitching efforts for Norton, while the team's bats were strong all night long. It started with a triple by Sean McNichols.

For the Norton 10-year-old all-star team, it's been quite a summer already and it could get even better.

Tonight, Norton will be playing at Sharon in the semifinals of Hockomock Summer Baseball League in a 5:30 p.m. If they win, they will face the winner of the Attleboro-North Attleboro game for the title Friday.

Last Friday, Norton had Attleboro only its second loss of the season with a 6-0 win. The 10s have already beaten North Attleboro three times this year. Sharon defeated Norton earlier in the year.

The team is made up of 13 players and four coaches. The players are mostly in the fifth grade, but there are a few fourth and sixth graders in the mix.

Norton has been busy this summer, playing 20 games in four weeks.

All summer long, the team has been getting teriffic support for their fans and you can read more about them on their Facebook page, which allows tracks the season long accomplishments. The Facebook page will also have updated information on the game.

After their win over Franklin Tuesday night, Norton coach coach Mark Morabito said, "great win tonight by our boys. They showed heart, soul, and determination when it mattered most. It was truly a team effort."

Members of the team are Andrew Tetrault (bat boy), Ethan Meisner-Nelson, Michael Duross, Brandon Morabito, Ryan Whiting, Nicholas Chew,  Matthew O'Keefe, Cam Russell, Kyle Houlihan, Sean McNichols, Jack Byrne, Nolan Tetrault, Nathaniel Thomasson, coaches Mark Morabito, Jon Chew, head coach Chris O'Keefe and Mike Duross.
