Mixed Results For Norton Cal Ripken Baseball Teams

10-year-olds fall in two-game district finals, while 12-year-olds punch ticket to states.

There was a lot of emotion on display at the Lee Burchill Baseball Complex on Saturday as two youth baseball teams from town were taking part in their respective Cal Ripken District 4 Tournament championship games.

The Norton American 12-year-old all-star team qualified for next week’s state tournament in Chelmsford with a come-from-behind 10-6 victory over Stoughton in the district final on Saturday afternoon at Burchill Field A.

Needing just one win to earn a spot in the state tournament, the Norton American 10-year-old all-star team dropped a pair of tough decisions to Dedham in the district finals at Burchill Field B.

Facing elimination, Dedham won the first game 10-0 in four innings on Saturday morning and then edged the locals 10-9 in the deciding game on Saturday afternoon.

Look for complete coverage of both teams over the next few days on Norton Patch.
