Men’s Swimming And Diving Falls To Babson
Neill claims first place in 50-freestyle on Senior Night.
The Wheaton College men's swimming and diving team fell to Babson College, 116-83, on "Senior Night" at the Balfour Natatorium on Friday evening.
Prior to the dual meet, seniors Griffin Hanley (Andover, Mass./North Andover) and Sam Neill (Ludlow, Mass./Belchertown) were honored for their contributions towards the swimming and diving program.
Neill earned first place honors in the 50-freestyle with a time of 22.68-seconds while Hanley was sixth overall in 23.97-seconds. Hanley also helped the Lyons to a third place finish in the 200-yard medley relay alongside teammates Kyle Wilson (Cumberland, Maine/Greely), Sam Jackson (Darien, Conn./Darien) and Daniel Spencer (North Yarmouth, Maine/Greely).

In the 100-yard freestyle event, Neill ranked second overall in 49.73-seconds and sophomore Nick Fredette (Stoneham, Mass./Stoneham) was third overall with a time of 51.15-seconds. Fredette also finished third in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:04.58.
Sophomore Richard Jenkins (Bow, N.H./Bow) claimed first place in the 100-yard backstroke in 56.21-seconds and ranked second overall in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.48.

In the 1,000-yard freestyle, second-year Dominic Ziolek (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) finished second overall in 10 minutes and 47.56-seconds. Freshman Mike Gibson (Northwood, N.H./Coe-Brown Northwood Academy) checked in at third overall in 11:46.45.
Wheaton returns to the pool Thursday, Jan. 24 as the Lyons travel to WPI for a dual meet scheduled at 6:30 p.m.
