Another Quad Sweep for Norton Wrestling

Hudson gets 100th career pin.

Having beaten Dighton-Rehoboth 53-23 on Wednesday, the Norton wrestlers roared into Wayland's field house on Saturday intent on making a statement.  Determined to defend last year's D-3 Central Sectional championship, the Lancers handed Bristol- Plymouth / Coyle-Cassidy a 40-9 loss, beat Tri-County 57-21 and downed host Wayland 42-30.

Sophomore Elliott Johnson (170), juniors Ahrayah Saintius (120), JT Taylor (145) and co-captain Mike Travers (182) all went undefeated on the day as did seniors Tim Casagni (195) and captains Jack Cuneo (160) and Stephen Hudson (285). Freshman Aidan Kahn (106) and sophomore Russell Hansen (132) both won two matches. More significantly, Taylor (2), Travers (2), Cuneo, Casagni and Hudson all knocked off ranked wrestlers in the process while Johnson won all three of his matches by pins.

In addition, Hudson reached a milestone no previous Norton wrestler ever accomplished. In the process of reaching 125 career wins (surpassing two time state champion Brett Gallagher's 124 and still shy of state champion Scott Coleman's 148), Stephen recorded his 100th career pin, a new school record.

The Lancers are now 25-3 on the season and looking to tie the school record of 26 wins in a season, set last year, by defeating Tri-Valley League rival Bellingham in their last dual meet of the season on Monday night.  Meanwhile, Norton's JVs improved their record to 11-5 with a win at Wayland.

Top performers include freshman Jacob Burgess with 21 wins and junior JV captain Grant Monast with 17 and freshman Anthony Cardone with 16.
