Dunkin’ Donuts Celebrates 17th Year of Annual Scholarship Program

Dunkin' Donuts to award more than $110,000 in scholarships to local students.

Dunkin’ Donuts and the franchisees of Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts announced that applications for the 17th annual Dunkin’ Donuts Scholarship Program will be available through March 15.

This annual program awards students with well-rounded character scholarships for use towards their college education. Interested applicants can visit any Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant in Rhode Island or Bristol County, Massachusetts for more information. There are four Dunkin Donuts locations in Norton.

This year, Dunkin’ Donuts will award a $1,000 scholarship to one college-bound member of the senior class in each high school in Rhode Island and Bristol County, Massachusetts who excels academically, demonstrates leadership qualities, and is involved with the community. More than 110 scholarships will be awarded throughout the area as part of the Dunkin’ Donuts Scholarship Program.

In the 17 years that local Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees have funded the program, nearly $2 million in scholarship money has been awarded to students to help further their education, demonstrating the franchisees’ long-standing commitment to supporting youth and education-based programs in their communities.

“Since the inception of this program, the need for scholarships has grown tremendously with each passing year,” said Joe Prazeres, Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee.  “We are so proud to offer this initiative to our loyal guests who support us every day, and we hope that these scholarships will help ease the financial burden of achieving a college education for local families.”

Applicants to the Dunkin’ Donuts Scholarship Program must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be a high school senior who plans to enroll in a course of study. Students must be enrolled at least part-time in a baccalaureate degree program at an accredited college or university, an associate degree program at an accredited junior or community college, or a certificate program at an approved vocational or technical institute.
  • Be a resident of Rhode Island or Bristol County, Massachusetts.

Eligible students can receive additional information by visiting participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in Rhode Island and Bristol County, Massachusetts. Applications must be received by March 15, 2012 for consideration. The Dunkin’ Donuts scholarship program is managed by Scholarship America.
