Home Sales, Median Sale Price Down in Norton

Year over year statistics show less houses sold in Norton in January 2013 than in January 2012.

Norton saw its home sales take a slight dip in the month of January, according to data released by real estate information firm The Warren Group, 

According to the report, there was an decrease in January sales in Norton from eight in 2012 to seven in 2013.

In Massachusetts, 2,680 homes sold in January 2013,  up over last year's 2,436 sales. This is the highest January sales volume for single-family homes in Massachusetts in five years, when there were 2,953 transactions in January 2007.

The median sale price in Norton was down 25.70 percent from $249,000 in January 2012 to $185,000 in January 2013

"We ended 2012 on a pretty positive note, and this is carrying into January," said Timothy M. Warren Jr., CEO of The Warren Group. "Recent pending sales data are a hopeful sign for a strong spring market. And given low mortgage rates and steady prices, there are positive signs that 2013 will be a second year of recovery.
