Zora Warren Submits Nomination Papers

The School Committee candidate is ready to campaign.

North Andover's local election is starting to take shape, and another candidate has turned in nomination papers for School Committee.

Zora Warren is running for the seat, currently held by Chris Allen. Allen has announced that she will not run again.

"My motivation is really just the success of our schools," Warren said. She currently has a daughter in second grade and another in kindergarten.

Warren, a North Andover resident for the past 10 years, will bring an extensive educational resume to the race. She's a former teacher, having taught social studiesat R.J. Grey Junior High School in Acton and Groton-Dunstable Regional Middle School in Groton.

More recently, Warren has worked for Sun Associates in North Chelmsford, evaluating curriculum and education programs for students of all ages focusing on American History Grants.

"My role was to help the projects really solidify and shape their goals and identifying benchmarks to meet their goals," Warren said.

She graduated from the University of Illinois and Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Warren said that if elected she plans to focus on strengthening a centralized curriculum for the schools; enhancing communication between administration leadership, schools and parents; and better definining district and school goals.

So far, Warren will face off against Mark Mezzina for the seat.

What often is the case, just like in the NBA or professional wrestling, is that the referee doesn't see the first offense or deems it insignificant but gets his attention. Then when the retaliation comes, the referee sees it and says something. On some occasions, the first offense doesn't result in any retaliation and finally the aggrieved party lets out the equivalent of a four letter word (e.g. socialist). That will get you tee'd up in a hurry. So I suggest you get in the first dig, and make it subtle, and let your opponent respond. If this is less NBA and more professional wrestling, there's nothing you can do.

Would someone please tell Michael Quinlan and Cool Fusion, that we have met the enemy and they are ours, the TeaParty has been an abject failure.

Walter, we are all playing nicely in the sandbox now. Let's respect the democratic process and not resort to ad hominem attacks on our fellow citizens.
Michael Quinlan February 07, 2013 at 08:06 PM
Keep up the good work Walter. I'm sure L'Italien will do better next time.
