What Does the Average Norton Homeowner, Business Owner Pay in Taxes?

Wondering what the average tax bill is in Norton?

Norton Selectmen voted last week to continue with a single tax rate for Norton residents and Norton businesses. The rate of $15.37 will result in a $141 bump in the average tax bill for Norton homeowners.

So, what is the average tax bill in Norton? For single family homes? For businesses?

According to a report developed by Director of Assessing Lisa Cathcart, the average single family homeowner in Norton paid $4,200 in FY13. In FY14, the average single family homeowner will pay $4,340. The average single family home in town is assessed at $282,400.

What about Norton Businesses?

The report broke businesses into three categories: small commercial, average commercial and large commercial.

In FY2013, a small commercial business in Norton paid $5,111. In FY2014 the average small commercial business was assessed at $344,561 and will pay $5,296.

In FY2013, an average commercial business in Norton paid $16,548. In FY2014 the average commercial business was assessed at $1,087,132 and will pay $16,709.

In FY2013, the average large commercial business in Norton paid $65,356. In FY2014, the average large commercial business was assessed at $4,252,200 and will pay $65,356.
