Volunteers Sought for Norton Finance Committee

Terms to expire in June.

Norton town moderator Bill Gouveia announced that he is seeking applicants to fill at least one vacancy on the Norton Finance Committee.

One position will become vacant due to the individual’s request not to be reappointed on June 30. There will be additional terms expiring in June, with those members eligible for reappointment.

Candidates for the positions must be registered Norton voters, show an ability to be objective and reasonable, and be willing to learn about town government and the town budget. They must also be able to make the time commitment, which is up to two nights per week for approximately three months in the spring, and then one month in the fall, plus occasional other meetings.

The Finance Committee makes recommendations to the Town Meeting on all matters to come before the people, including the town budget. It is an unpaid volunteer position and one of the most important committees in town, according to the town moderator.

To apply for appointment, contact Gouveia at nortontownmod@aol.com or by postal mail to 111 Maple St., Norton.
