Scott Brown Sells Wrentham Home. Is He Moving to NH to Run for Senate?

Brown's home expected to close this week. He owns a summer home in Rye, NH.

Scott Brown has sold his Wrentham, MA home and will move to New Hampshire, Bloomberg reported Monday.

Brown was not quoted in the story, but the CEO of Nixon Peabody, the firm the former Massachusetts Senator works for, said that the sale of Brown's home is set to close this week.

Brown owns a summer home in Rye and has frequently been mentioned as a candidate for U.S. Senate in New Hampshire in 2014. Already, Republican candidates Jim Rubens, Karen Testerman and Bob Smith have announced they will seek the seat now held by Democrat Jeanne Shaheen.

Brown is scheduled to speak at a holiday fundraiser for the NHGOP on Thursday in Nashua. In Londonderry two weeks ago, Brown said "I don't think anything's off the table at this point," but added that he is in "no hurry" to make up his mind.

A Republican super PAC also announced Monday that it will spend $100,000 on online ads in New Hampshire attacking Shaheen and promoting an effort to draft Brown to run against her.

The New Hampshire Democratic Party, which protested the Londonderry event, issued a statement Monday condemning the online campaign.

"The attack ads from Scott Brown’s Wall Street cronies are just the latest in their shameless campaign to get him to run for the Senate, not from his home state of Massachusetts, but from our state of New Hampshire," Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley said. "Scott Brown and his out-of-state attack dogs don’t understand that here in New Hampshire, people want their holidays filled with family and friends, not phony, negative attacks from shadowy outside interest groups representing Wall Street, investment bankers, and corporate special interests."
