Nomination papers for the Annual Town Election in Norton are available at the Town Clerk’s office beginning Monday, Jan. 28.
Seats up for grabs are:
Board of Assessors: One three-year term currently held by Barbara E. Martin.
Housing Authority: Two five-year terms currently held by Robert S. Salvo Sr. and Ralph Stephanelli (appointed for Stanley Mederios vacancy).
Planning Board: Three three-year terms currently held by David J. Miller and George F. Burgess and Alec E. Rich Jr.
School Committee: Two three-year terms currently held by Andrew Mackie and Elizabeth A. McManus.
Board of Selectmen: Two three-year terms currently held by Robert W. Kimball Jr. and Robert S. Salvo Sr.
Water/Sewer Commission: One three-year term currently held by Steven L. Wiseman.
The Annual Town Election in Norton will be held 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 30.
Monday, Jan. 28: First day to obtain nomination papers.
Friday, March 8, 5 p.m.: The last day to obtain nomination papers.
Tuesday, March 12, 5 p.m.: Last day to submit nomination papers to Board of Registrars for certification.
Tuesday, March 26, 5 p.m.: Last day to submit certified nomination papers with Town Clerk.
Thursday, March 28, 5 p.m.: Last day to object or withdraw.
Tuesday, April 10: Last day to register to vote.
Monday, April 22: Pre-election report due.
Thursday, May 30: Post-election report due.
Fifty certified signatures are required to become an eligible candidate for town-wide office. The required number of signatures is set at 1 percent of the total number of voters in the last race for governor in Norton. The total number of voters in the 2010 Governor’s Race in Norton was 6,768. Massachusetts General Law Ch 53, Section 6 also states the number of signatures required cannot to be less than 20 and no more than 50.
If you do not receive any contributions, spend any money (including your own) or
incur any liabilities in connection with your campaign, you may sign Form CPF
M102-0 available at the Town Clerks Office for each reporting period in lieu of
filing Form CPF M102
