UPDATED: Two Killed in Small Plane Crash at Taunton Airport Identified

Two people were killed after small plane crashed on departure at the Taunton Municipal Airport in Taunton Sunday at around 6:30 a.m. 

The deceased are tentatively being identified as by the Bristol County district attorney's office as the pilot John Schmouth, 69, of Brockton, and Roland Deslauriers, 61, of Bridgewater, according to a report in the Boston Globe. 

“Although next of kin notifications have been made and investigators believe they have identified both victims, the confirmed identities of the two victims will not officially be known until the Medical Examiner’s Office conducts autopsies on the remains,” said spokesman Gregg Miliote a released statement from the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.

Taunton mayor  Thomas Hoye Jr. told the Boston Globe, he couldn't say what was the cause of accident.

"At this point, it just looks a horrible accident, just a terrible tragedy," he said in the Boston Globe."It's just difficult. This is the first tragedy that we've had here in recent memory." 

The MassDOT Aeronautics, the FAA, Massachusetts State Police, Taunton Police, Taunton Fire, and the State Medical Examiner were on the scene and they are coordinating the investigation with the NTSB.
