Sysco Truck Strikes Utility Pole, Shuts Down Eddy Street

Driver sustained minor injuries.

At 2:21 p.m. Monday, and responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a Sysco tractor-trailer unit on Eddy Street. 

The truck, which was headed to Sysco, had veered off the right side of Eddy Street before it struck a utility pole, causing damage to the pole and wires to be taken down. National Grid responded to the scene to repair the damage to the pole and wires. After wires were removed from the top of the truck, it was able to be driven from the scene. 

Eddy Street was closed for approximately six hours and traffic was detoured around the area via Woodward Street.

 The operator, Bradford Lake, age 28, of Fall River, was transported to Sturdy Hospital by the Norton Fire Department for minor injuries.  Lake has not been cited in the incident. The crash is under investigation by patrolman Timothy Gariepy.
