Snowfall Causes Four Accidents in Norton Wednesday

No major injuries reported.

Wednesday morning’s snowfall caused several accidents, making for a frustrating day for many Norton commuters.

At 6:06 a.m., a vehicle struck a tree on Dean Street. An hour later, a vehicle struck a utility pole on S. Worcester Street, causing the wires to fall down across the road. National Grid was called to the scene while S. Worcester Street was blocked off for approximately eight hours while National Grid did work. At 7:44 a.m., a vehicle drove off Bay Road and into the woods. Then finally at 8:58 a.m., a vehicle struck a utility pole at 17 N. Washington St. and was pinned there by another car that slid into it. N. Washington Street was closed off for six hours while National Grid cut the power and stabilized the pole.

There were no major injuries reported from any of the accidents.

Norton received about 3.5 inches of snow. Norton may see more snow Thursday night and next Tuesday. Keep track of the forecast on Norton Patch.
