Snapping Turtle, Loud Party, Assault Reported, and Brush Fire

The following information about recent local police incidents was supplied by the Norton Police Department. An arrest and/or charge does not indicate a conviction.

Oct. 18:

8:33 a.m. - W. Main St.

A police officer was flagged down by a passing motorist about a large road hazard infront of JCS. The officer reported in front of Optical Shoppe there was an extremely large snapping turtle in the roadway. He attempted to move it to the side of the road but it tried to cross again. The animal eventually moved into the yard between the house and the fence.

Oct. 19

8:15 p.m. - E. Main St.

A caller reported people yelling in her back yard. Police reported it sounded like a party in the area of 285 E. Main St. Police found a large party on Downing St. It was a family Halloween party. The homeowner was advised of the noise complaint.

Oct. 20

12:22 a.m. - E. Main St.

A caller reported a male was at his door who was assaulted. The victim stated that a male driver in a silver car punched him and the vehicle fled towards Easton. Easton Police were advised. The victim was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital.

1:52 p.m. - W. Main St.

Police responded to a motorcycle accident. The victim was walking and had facial lacerations. The patient refused treatment.

4:49 p.m. - S. Worcester St.

A brush fire was reported. Fire Officials extinguished it, and the wetting down was ruled complete. Fire was due to careless disposal of fireplace ashes. The resident was advised of proper disposal in the future.
