Pole Hit and Run Shuts Down S. Washington Street

Power to be restored before 1 a.m.

Residents on S. Washington Street are without power for the time being, but this time it isn’t because of the weather.

“Wires and pole were pulled down by a truck, but it left the scene prior to police arrival,” said Norton Police Lieutenant Todd Jackson.

S. Washington Street is closed from Hill Street to Holiday Inn in Taunton.

According to the National Grid outage map, 167 Norton customers are without power. They are currently on scene to repair the damage. The estimated time of power restore is Tuesday, Feb. 12, 12:45 a.m. The accident occured some time around 6 p.m. Monday.
