One Yelle Elementary Student Transported to Hospital After School Bus Accident

None of the other students on the bus were injured.

A 10-year-old Yelle Elementary School student was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital Tuesday afternoon after the school bus he was riding collided with a pick-up truck on S. Worcester St.

Fire Captain Benton Keene III said the male patient was transported for precautionary measures as he was complaining of headaches and nausia. None of the other 12 4th and 5th grade students on the bus were injured in the accident.

Keene said the bus was traveling westbound near 118 S. Worcester St. just before 3 p.m. when a Ford Ranger traveling eastbound hit the bus, scraping along its side. The driver of the truck was not injured in the accident. His pickup truck was totaled.

Keene said the bus was towed as a result of two flat tires. The remainder of the students were transported back to the school via another bus and released to their parents.

The bus driver was not injured in the accident, Keene said.
