Norton Resident Injured in Crash
James Doherty, 65, of Foxborough, was charged with an OUI and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
A Norton woman was injured in a car accident early Sunday morning.
On Dec. 2 at 12:20 a.m., Norton Police and Fire responded to the area of 81 Cobb St. for a report of a motor vehicle crash. The operator of the vehicle, James Doherty, 65, of East Street, Foxborough, attempted to negotiate the sharp turn on Cobb Street, but lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree. A 58-year-old female rear passenger from Norton was transported to Sturdy Hospital by the Norton Fire Department for non-life threatening injuries. No other occupants in the vehicle were injured.
Doherty was placed under arrest at the scene and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, second offense and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. He was later released and will appear in the Attleboro District Court Monday, Dec. 3.
Responding officers were Sergeant Robert Whitfield, Patrolman James Cameron and Patrolman Kevin Schleicher Jr.
