Massachusetts State Police have issued a citation to the man who was allegedly operating the vehicle that .
Shane Wilson, 20, of Norton was issued a citation with a single charge of leaving the scene after causing personal injury resulting in death, David Traub, spokesman for Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey, said in a press release.
29-year-old Adam T. Trudeau of Needham was said to have been standing in the roadway on the northbound side of Route 24 .
The accident happened around 1:15 a.m. on July 29, not far from the Stoughton stretch of the highway.
The "initial investigation indicates that the deceased [Trudeau] may have been stationary and facing oncoming traffic in the center lane of Rte. 24 northbound at the time that he was struck by a red car, driven by a male party [allegedly Wilson], which initially stopped, but left the scene before speaking with police," according to the release from the DA's office.
Later in the day on Sunday a male did contact the Massachusetts State Police, telling authorities he was aware he had struck something but thought it was a deer, according to a release from the DA's office.
Wilson will be summonsed to Quincy District Court at a future date to be determined by the court. Certain evidence collection and investigation in the matter remains ongoing, according to the DA's office.
"Charges are only accusations; as with all defendants, Mr. Wilson enjoys the Constitutional presumption of innocence," Traub said.
Wilson was also involved in a Feb. 12.
The July 29 fatal accident comes a little more than two weeks after the July 12 crash where , a 12-year-old from Norton, . The single-car rollover also hospitalized two women from Norton.
