Norton Man Arrested For Breaking and Entering

Norton Police arrested a Norton resident Monday night for allegedly breaking into a local home

A Norton man was arrested Monday night for allegedly breaking into a house on North Washington St.

Norton Police Liutenant Todd Jackson said Stephen Mudge, 43, of Perry St. was charged with breaking and entering in the nighttime after an investigation conducted by the Norton Police.

Jackson said police responded to a burglar alarm on N. Washington St. at approximately 5:15 p.m. and spoke with a homeowner and neighbors who said a house had been broken into shortly before the homeowner's arrival. While Police searched the area, Jackson said Brian King of the Norton PD noticed a male walking on Cross St.

"After speaking with the male and conducting an investigation at the residence, officers discovered the male to be the suspect in the housebreak," Jackson said.  "Other investigating officers were Ptlm. Marc Robichaud, Ptlm. James Cameron and Detective Jeffrey Zaccardi."

Nothing was taken from the home, according to Jackson.
