Norton Introduces New First Responders

A new firefighter was sworn in this month and a new special police officer was introduced.

Norton first responders introduced new members this month.

Thursday night in front of Norton Selectmen, Jonathan Drobnis was sworn in as Norton's newest firefighter.

"I’m very, very happy to be here and my dream is coming true," said Drobnis.

Drobnis, 32, is a graduate of Sharon High School, and has a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design at the University of Alaska.

His artistic skills have already come in handy, Fire Chief Paul Schleicher said. Drobnis helped paint the new firehouse prop for kids that the firefighters use during open houses.

Drobnis' swearing in came a week after Norton Police introduced Special Police Officer Keith Kelliher.

Special Police Officers join the force on a part-time basis, Police Chief Brian Clark said.

"The majority of our department started that way, including myself," Clark said.

Kelliher is a graduate of Norton High School and Bridgewater State University. He serves in the Massachusetts Air National Guard.

"It’s impressive the credentials that the special police officers and police officers coming onto our force have," Selectman Bradford K. Bramwell said.
