Motor Vehicle Accidents, Assault and Syringes

The following information about recent local police incidents was supplied by the Norton Police Department. An arrest and/or charge does not indicate a conviction.

Aug. 16:

10:12 a.m. East Main St.
Police responded to a motor vehicle accident with injury. One vehicle contained four people, three of which were transferred to the hospital. The second had two people, one of which was transferred to the hospital.

10:56 p.m..-Mansfield Avenue

Police responded to a call of two people pacing in front of an apartment complex. The two people were picked up and transported to McDonalds to wait for a ride.

Aug. 17

1:46 a.m.-West Main St.
Police responded to a call of a possible water main break in front of Valentine Tool. The water department was called to shut off the water and caution tape was placed around a sinkhole in the business parking lot.

10:18 a.m.- Reservoir St.
Police responded to a fistfight in progress between two males. Police were able to track down one of the males who advised police the fight was related to a past assault and battery. The male was advised.

1:49 p.m.- Reservoir St.
Police responded to a call from an off duty Norwood officer reports he has been finding more and more syringes on the side of the roadway in the area of his residence. He states he believes people are using drugs on the beach and are accessing it via Farm Lane. Advised we will make a log note. Extra patrols requested for Juniper Beach.

6:33 p.m. - West Main St.
A motor vehicle accident with injuries was reported. A motorcyclist had been hit and was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital.

10:34 p.m.- Stanley Rd.
Police responded to call from someone who reported an attempted robbery via gunpoint. The assault led to the apprehention of Samantha Dixon and Joe Torres by Rhode Island State Police on fugitive from justice charges.

August 18

4:21 p.m.- John Scott Boulevard
Police responded to a man who said his house is being hit by golf balls and he believes it is coming from a neighbor.
