Larceny, Disturbances and Drug Arrest

The following information about recent local police incidents was supplied by the Norton Police Department. An arrest and/or charge does not indicate a conviction.

Aug. 23:

10:30 a.m. Freeman St.
A caller reported that his fiance was intoxicated and causing a disturbance. Police responded and one female was placed into protective custody.

2:16 p.m. Samoset St.
A walk-in reported a larceny that included two catalytic converters from two vehicles. Extra patrols were requested for the area.

11:42 p.m. Mansfield Ave.
A caller reported a fight in progress when she got home. Approximately six youths left her house walking towards Roche Bros. She believes they may be at the house across from Norton Liquors.

A past assault and battery was reported but the victim was uncooperative and refused to give information on what happened leading up to the assault.

Aug. 24

8:31 a.m. South Worcester St.
A caller reported a maroon clutch purse with her social security card, bank account information and other important papers taken from her jeep. The caller also believed someone was in the house as drawers were open but nothing was taken.


Aug. 25

1:04 p.m. West Main St.
Police received a call from a CVS pharmasist reporting a perscription that was flagged by the DEA.

Ergin Sefki Abaz, 49, of Canton was arrested for Liquor ID Card/License, False/Misuse, violating an Abuse Prevention Order, Unlawfully Obtaining Controlled Substance, and Possession Class A Substance

Aug. 26

12:32 a.m. Norton Glen Road
Police responded to a call regarding a grill on fire at one of the apartments. Within 20 minutes the fire was out. Investigators were called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
