Ice Ball, Accidents and Escaped Suspect

The following information about recent local police incidents was supplied by the Norton Police Department. An arrest and/or charge does not indicate a conviction.

Dec. 21:

12:15 a.m. Barrows St.

A caller reported he was driving down Barrows St. and his vehicle was hit with an ice ball. He said there was a group of kids in the woods who are possibly lighting a fire or setting fireworks.

An officer responded and spoke to a group of youths in the back yard of a residence. The group denied any knowledge but were advised.

3:47 p.m. - W. Main St.

Multiple callers reported a two-car motor vehicle accident. One patient denied ambulance transport. A second patient was taken to the hospital by her husband.

10:05 p.m. - Maple St.

Callers reported a pick-up truck that struck a telephone pole. There were no injuries and no transport was required. However, National Grid was notified for a damaged pole that needed immediate attention.

Dec. 22

4:53 p.m - Forest St.

Norton PD was advised by Attleboro PD of a lose suspect who was in custody and escaped from Sturdy Memorial Hospital and may be heading towards Norton. The suspect was wearing a hospital gown.

Attleboro and State Police located the suspect in Attleboro and the suspect was placed back into custody.

11:25 p.m. - N. Worcester St.

A single-car motor vehicle accident was reported. The operator had struck a pole and suffered a head injury. The operator was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital and National Grid was notified of the pole.
