Husband of Norton Town Clerk Receives Two and a Half Years in Jail

James Sicard was arrested after an assault of his wife in April.

The husband of the Norton Town Clerk was sentenced to jail time this week, the Attleboro Sun Chronicle is reporting.

According to the report, James Sicard, 44, was given 2 and a half years in prison for assaulting his wife, Danielle Sicard, who serves as Norton's town clerk.

James Sicard has been in jail since he was charged in May.

In May, James Sicard was charged with assault with intent to murder, assault and battery and intimidation of a witness. According to police, “the victim reported that Sicard twisted her neck several times during the altercation, prevented her from leaving and attempted to suffocate her with a towel."

According to the Sun Chronicle, Sicard was found innocent of the attempted murder and intimidation of a witness charges.

The altercation sent the Norton town clerk to Sturdy Memorial Hospital.
