Hurricane Sandy Closes Several Norton Roads

National Grid, Highway Department to clear the way.

Several roads in Norton have been closed off due to downed wires and branches, though they will be worked on overnight.

"National Grid is currently working on Shelly Road and should have that open shortly, then moving on," said Norton Police Lieutenant Todd Jackson. "Several other roads were closed throughout the day due to trees and lines being down. All roads that were closed due to downed trees were opened within a short time due to quick responses by the Norton Highway Department."

138 Pine St. (one lane)
167 to 200 Bay Road
20 Woodward St.
E. Main Street at Easton line
167 Pine St.
45 Crane St.
53 Richardson Ave.
9 Shelly Road

The Emergency Operations Center was operating in the training room of the police station until 9 p.m. responding to non-emergency calls. They will resume tomorrow morning. To report power outages, downed trees, limbs or wires call the center at 508-285-3326.

Residents can also report power outages to National Grid at 800-322-3223.
