East Main Street Crash Causes Temporary Detour

No one seriously injured in crash.

On Saturday afternoon, a motor vehicle accident caused E. Main Street to be shut down for several hours. The operator did not appear to sustain any injuries.

At 1:20 p.m., Norton Police and Fire Departments responded to a motor vehicle crash at 155 E. Main St. The single vehicle involved in the crash was traveling west when it veered off the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole.

The operator, Daniel Christopher, 29, of Barrows Street, Norton, did not appear to be injured, but was transported to Rhode Island Hospital via Norton Rescue as a precaution due to the severity of the damage.

National Grid and Verizon crews responded to the scene to repair the heavily damaged utility pole.

The crash is under investigation by Ptlm. David Ruskey.

“The operator has not been cited in the crash at this point,” said Lieutenant Todd Jackson.

A month earlier, another car crash in front of the shut down East Main Street for six hours.
