Bicyclist Struck by Motor Vehicle

Press release by Norton Police Department.

At 8:10 p.m. Friday night, and responded to the area of 328 E. Main St. for a report of a bicyclist struck by a motor vehicle. 

The bicyclist, a 16-year-old male from Easton, was heading toward Easton when he was struck by a vehicle heading west.  The youth suffered head injuries and injuries to his lower extremities. He was transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Rhode Island by the Norton Fire Department.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the youth was riding his bicycle in the roadway while wearing dark clothing. The operator of the vehicle, Arlindo Moraes, 42, of Attleboro, immediately stopped after the accident, attended to the victim and called 911.

Moraes has not been cited. The incident is under investigation by Ptlm. Michael McKenney.
