Norton, MA Public School District:Healthy food for special events/parties- Sign the Petition!‏

I am a parent of a Norton Student with severe food allergies. I know if my child did not have this condition I would not be writing to you. I would not even consider it an issue unless brought to my attention.  I am asking Norton to support other parents of children with allergies by changing Norton to a healthy school district by either only allowing healthy options/alernatives to food during school AND birthday events or eliminating food brought in altogether. Norton is one of the only districts in Massachusetts in New England that has not implemented a no food policy. Other districts recognize that bringing in unhealthy items not only promotes obesity but also could be life threatening. At home we have the option of what we provide our children and can control what we participate in. At school it is more difficult, of course we want our children to be part of every activity. Why should they feel bad or left out over a medical condition?

I am looking to you to sign this petition to show that we as parents would support one another. http://chn.ge/1h7u55V

If you do not support it, that is ok too, just sharing a different perspective.
