Walter H. Stowe, 76, of Plainville, formerly of Norton and Mansfield, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 at the Harrington House in Walpole.
Born in Boston Aug. 9, 1936, he was a son of the late Roland and Dorothy (Pettee) Stowe.
He grew up in Boston and was educated in Boston public schools. Walter served his country as a member of the U.S. National Guard. A resident of Plainville for the past 10 years, he had formerly lived for many years in Norton and Mansfield.
Mr. Stowe was a retired intake coordinator having worked for many years helping others at the North Cottage in Norton. He had previously been employed as a self-employed carpenter and cabinet maker.
Walter’s interests included day trading and playing games on his computer. He was also a dedicated Boston Red Sox fan.
He is survived by his children Walter J. Stowe and his wife Mary of Plainville, Kenneth J. Stowe and his wife Millicent of Deltona, Fla. and Jackye M. Hughes and her husband Michael of Norton; his siblings Marion Muller of Mansfield, Evelyn Hunton of Winthrop and Ralph Stowe of Hull; his seven grandchildren; his six great- grandchildren; and his several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 8th at 7 p.m. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
