Thomas F. Kearney, 85, passed away Oct. 24.

Thomas F. Kearney, 85, of Brockton, passed away Oct. 24. 

Mr. Kearney was son of the late Gerald and Ruth Kearney.

He made his home in East Bridgewater for the past three years. Thomas was a graduate of Coyle High School in Taunton.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Tom had a long career with the U.S. Postal Service, first as a mail carrier and then as a labor management supervisor but always said he most enjoyed his time as a letter carrier with the many friends he made along his routes. He was a member of the American Legion and DAV and was also a member of D.W. Field Golf Course for many years.

Thomas leaves his wife Valerie J. (Kavalauskas) Kearney; his children Susan Zaleznick (and Edward) of Norton, Eileen Cardella of Easton, Valerie Heneghan (and Brian) of Pembroke and Thomas L. Kearney (and Margaret) of Brockton; his eight grandchildren Matthew and Adam Silva, David and Marissa Zaleznick, James, Lauren and Mary Cardella and Jake Kearney; his step-grandchildren Shannon and John Heneghan; his siblings Gerald Kearney of Michigan, Margaret Legge of Florida, Ruth Farley of Connecticut and Brenda McGillivray of Halifax. Tom also leaves behind his cousins, Ed Kent, Charles Kent, Anna Kent, and Claire Hamill; and many nieces and nephews. Kearney was preceded in death by his siblings Mary Powers, James Kearney and John Kearney.
