Obituary: Marguerite G. Snell

Marguerite G. "Maggie" (Eldridge) Snell, 84, passed away March 10 at Epoch Senior Healthcare in Norton.

Marguerite G. “Maggie” (Eldridge) Snell, 84, of Plainville, formerly of Mansfield and Bellingham, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare in Norton.

She was the wife of the late Clarence E. Snell and the late Russell Rouzaut.

Born in Framingham Sept. 28, 1928, she was daughter of the late Angus A. and Blanche (Brown) Eldridge.

She grew up in the Saxonville section of Framingham and was educated in Framingham schools. Prior to retiring in 1982, Maggie had been employed for 12 years as an assembler at the Foxboro Co.

A resident of Plainville for over 15 years, she had previously resided in Mansfield for 18 years. Maggie was a member of the Orthodox Congregational Church, now called the Congregational Church of Mansfield, and while a resident of Bellingham, was involved with the First Baptist Church.

Maggie was a former active member of the Hockomock YMCA. She enjoyed her affiliation as a member of the Live Y er’s and also swimming at the YMCA. Maggie’s other interests included dancing and worldwide traveling with her late husband Clarence.

She is survived by her step daughter Marcia McMorrow of West Paris, Maine; Elizabeth Leonard and her family of Norton; Martha McGilvray and her family of Bellingham; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings Stanley Eldridge, Buster Eldridge and Vera Thomas.

Her funeral service, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be held Saturday, March 16 at 10 a.m. in the Congregational Church of Mansfield, 17 West St., Mansfield. Burial will follow at the Union Cemetery in Bellingham.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, March 15 5 to 7 p.m. at Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.

In lieu of flower’s Maggie’s request was that donations in her memory be made to the Memorial Fund of the Congregational Church of Mansfield, 17 West St., Mansfield, MA 02048.
