Judy A. (Elliott) Sidman, 69, of Norton, formerly of Attleboro and Stoughton, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013 after a lengthy period of deteriorating health.
Sidman was born Nov. 29, 1943 in Cushing, Okla. She was the daughter of retired U.S. Army Maj. George E. Elliott Jr. and Mary E. (Morgan) Elliott as well as the sister of Janice L. Elliott. Sidman spent her early years traveling the world and living on Army bases in Jackson, Miss.; Fort Smith, Ark.; San Antonio, Texas; Seoul, South Korea; Vienna, Austria and Bad Kreuznach, Germany before settling in Massachusetts in her early teens.
She held several positions in the health care field throughout her life and was an active member of the Second Congregational Church of Attleboro. Sidman particularly enjoyed the Prayer Shawl Ministry as well as Martha's Circle until her health prevented her from being as active. She also had a strong passion for the church's music program and enjoyed listening to the choir and hand bells every chance she had.
Sidman spent the past three and a half years at Epoch Assisted Living in Norton, where she was active in the Red Hat Society, Residents Council and other resident activities, especially enjoying arts & crafts and Bingo. Sidman enjoyed taking care of her many plants and always looked forward to a visit from family and friends. She will be remembered as a compassionate, caring woman who was full of life and had a great sense of humor.
Sidman is survived by her sons David E. Sidman (and his wife Jennifer) of Attleboro and James M. Sidman (and his wife Donna) of Stoughton; grandchildren David E. Sidman Jr. and Nicholas R. Sidman of Attleboro; lifelong friends Marjorie (Denham) Coldwell of Northboro and Kathi (Fahey) Lee of East Bridgewater as well as her church and Epoch families.
