Obituary: Helen F. Landis

Services to be held Sunday.

Helen F. (Smith) Landis, 86, of Norton, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012.

Born in Chicago, Ill. on March 14,1926, she was daughter of the late Harold J. and Adelaide C. (Conrad) Smith.

Helen grew up and was educated in Riverside, Ill. She furthered her studies and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. She continued her education by attending the University of Michigan.

A resident of Norton for the past 58 years, Mrs. Landis had been employed for over 25 years as a Marketing Services Manager at Handy & Harman Electronic Materials in N. Attleborough, prior to retiring.

Helen was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in N. Attleborough. Her main concerns in life were focused on her children, grandchildren, her dogs and her vegetable garden.

An avid traveler, Mrs. Landis had traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad, which included trips to Guatemala, Egypt, China, Cambodia, England and Wales.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn Kelly of Norton, Harry Landis of Norton, Hugh Landis and his wife Terry of Jaffrey, N.H., Howard Landis and his wife Lois of Essex Junction, Vt. and Gordon Landis of Stow; six grandchildren; two great granddaughters; and former husband Harry M. Pastra-Landis of Norton. She was predeceased by her daughter Diane Landis and sibling Hazael Hamer.

Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, will be held on Sunday, Sept. 23, 3 to 5 p.m. at Norton Memorial Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will immediately follow.
